It’s not designed to correct large gaps
between teeth or fix improperly

Another great thing about
NightShift® is that its very specialized springs remain
active when used as a retainer in the retention phase, so if your
teeth begin to move, as they tend
to do when retainers aren’t worn as
regularly as they should be, the springs will reactivate and quickly guide them back into

full-time and had them readjusted every two weeks, but monthly visits are fine if you have the type of busy schedule most
people keep. Less than full-time wear with monthly
adjustments will not obtain such rapid a rate of

It is absolutely must read material if
you’re considering orthodontics at all.
 NightShift®
is the first appliance of its kind which is
meant to be worn only at night and still get
the job done efficiently. When we first came
out with the appliance years ago, we
had never even considered using it on a
part-time basis.
Fortunately for us, several of the doctors
using it did. When it was first introduced
there was only one option which was the
standard appliance that has a steel wire
across the front teeth.
Some of these doctors’ patients really
wanted the cost savings and efficiency it
provided, but didn’t like the idea of the
wire showing… so a few of these doctors
began experimenting with part-time wear and
found it could be done successfully.
It had always been thought in the past that
the movement you gained while the appliance
was in the mouth, would be lost during the time
it was out… and for typical appliances
that’s still the case.
But the NightShift® appliance is different.
It uses a patented spring design unlike
anything that has come before it and they're made from a
proprietary alloy and heat-treating process
which results in far more optimal and continuous forces than the inefficient stainless steel spring designs of the past. The exceptional tooth movement capacity and great control over the direction of movement are both so efficient
even part-time
treatment is effective.
“What Are My Options?"
You’ve got a number of options fully
dependent on your needs and desires, but if
your case is one which NightShift® is
designed to treat, you’ll likely find
something to suit your situation.
Each of the variations is shown below along
with an explanation of how it should be
used.
If convenience is what’s most important to
you the Standard Nighttime Appliance
should be your choice. You should wear it
daily from at least early evening until you
awaken. The more you wear it, the sooner
you’ll finish… so whenever you’re at home
you should have it in and it should definitely be worn daily.
This standard version has a stainless steel wire in front of
the teeth, but who really cares if you have a
wire in front of your teeth if you’re only
going to wear it in the privacy of your own
home during the evening and while you sleep?
Besides, it’s the most versatile and
efficient appliance of the bunch and
definitely the best choice for part-time wear.
If finishing as quickly as possibly is most
important to you, there are a number of full-time options available
which are nearly or fully invisible,
depending on your case.
The Standard Nighttime Appliance can
be worn full time as well. If your case
requires a stainless steel wire to treat your case effectively,
it’s your only option. Such a wire is sometimes needed to
move part or all of a tooth backwards or keep it in a very specific spot while moving the others.
The Invisible Self Retaining Appliance
is one option that is difficult to see while
wearing, as is the Translucent Wire
Appliance. They’re often interchangeable
based on preference or one may be better
suited to a particular case. Your dentist or
orthodontist will let you know. Each is
priced the same so there are no worries
there…
And if finishing sooner rather than later is
a must for you…but you don’t want anything
showing at all,
whether it’s difficult to see or not, the
Daytime Only options will be the best choice
for you. They seat completely behind the
teeth and can’t be seen at all. They’re worn during the day in conjunction
with the nighttime appliance at night.
The
disadvantage is that you add the cost of
another appliance, though this is
quite reasonable with NightShift® and well
worth it if completely undetectable wear is
imperative to you.
